Badger Feature Results...RAINED OUT

JD - Still no real leaks or anything!  Was leading heat (not "slow" race either - both broke up EVEN on times...just got lucky no Hatton or Loyet...about the first time all year) mid-race when cam spud (that I thought of replacing Thursday...would have had to pay NDA to guarantee anything at that point) rounded out!  All that didn't matter though, as no trophy for heat win and all points and money split after it started raining before feature.  Should be one spot out of 10th now...Wished we'd known it was going to rain out!  Could have actually "run" the Rockford IRS show...although still not sure about this restrictor deal anyway...and no real time to set it up and all for pavement...Anyway car "took off" good (like last week too...without restrictors...) and (also like last week) did not let the #25 car get a jump on me at start.  (Thanks Tom Casper for picture).

As soon as it seemed clear, I went up towards the higher groove .  RR felt "soft" going into one couple times, but it did not seem to get worse.  Think I took it in ok at least the last time through.  Was still upset over lifting in qualifying (guess that was due to bad lines) and being slowest car in field.  Am certain if Altig did get around, we could have still managed at least top three finish and not have had to run B-main again.

From Bill Blumer (just posted):  All but the Badger feature were completed on Sunday as the midgets shared the stage with the Wisconsin Illinois Mini-Sprints on Sunday. Scattered showers looked like they’d hold off early in the program, but as the evening went on it looked like the edge of a storm might touch the area. Australian Matt Smith took qualifying honors for Badger, in an event that saw over half the field in the 14 second range. Jason Dull looked strong in the first heat as he led the first four rounds before his car expired. Bubba Altig took the point from there and sailed to the win. In the second heat, Jake Slotten looked strong early. Brad Kuhn caught him on lap-four and the two made contact. From there Kuhn took the checkers. Chad DeSelle won the Badger semi. A Rick Corso won for the first time in his career on dirt as he took the lead early in the first mini-sprint heat. In that race, Todd Lehr had a brief interview with the ambulance crew before being released, after he hit the turn-one wall head-on...The rains cut the mini-sprint feature short...This week Angell Park hosts the Badger Midgets in the Racer’s Memorial 25 sponsored by Pizza Hut and Pepsi (IRS too - JD).

(MAN, if Waelti had not picked up the #41 ride, we would be right on him!  Imagine Kuhn will be back, and do not know if 131 is enough on Coons.  Hopefully they won't come back until the USAC weekends? - JD)
