From Nascar.com:  NASCAR team owner Jack Roush was in serious but stable condition after walking away from a plane crash in Wisconsin on Tuesday night.

"There are injuries. Possible surgery," Roush Fenway Racing president Geoff Smith said in a text message to The Associated Press. "But he walked out of the plane."

Smith confirmed that the plane belonged to Roush, and he was flying it.

Roush, an aviation buff, was attending the Experimental Aircraft Association's annual AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wis., this week.

In a statement on the EAA website, officials said a Beechcraft Premier business jet registered to Roush Fenway Racing, LLC was involved in a landing accident at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh.

The accident occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. CDT, the statement said.

According to the EAA, the National Transportation Safety Board and Winnebago County Sheriff's Department confirmed that two occupants on board were Roush and Brenda Strickland of Plymouth, Mich.

"Each exited the aircraft following the accident," the statement said. "Both were transported to local hospitals, with Roush in serious but stable condition and Strickland with non-life threatening injuries. The NTSB is leading the investigation into the accident."

The Beechcraft Premier jet pancaked onto the runway and broke in half and no flames or smoke were seen, according to the aviation news website AVweb.com. Jason McDowell, an aviation photographer who was at the airport, tweeted a photo of team co-owner Jack Roush exiting the plane with a bloody face.

Jack Roush nearly lost his life while piloting a small plane near Troy, Ala., on his 60th birthday on April 19, 2002. He hit a power line and landed upside down in eight feet of water. The longtime NASCAR team owner was not breathing when he was rescued and sustained a broken leg, a collapsed lung and head injuries.

Roush owns several aircraft, including a World War II-vintage P-51 Mustang.

From WWW (not on NASCAR story! - JD) ...Smith said Roush's injuries include facial lacerations.

...According to a statement from the team, Roush was landing his plane when the accident occurred.

"Dr. Kevin Wasco, the attending physician, says that Roush is in serious but stable condition," the team's statement said. "His injuries are not life threatening."

...After having success in dragsters and sports car racing, Roush -- a former Ford engineer and college physics teacher -- founded his NASCAR team in 1988. Known for his trademark Panama-style hat, academic speaking style and love for tinkering with anything mechanical, he won championships in NASCAR's top series with Matt Kenseth in 2003 and Kurt Busch in 2004.

From Jayski:  NASCAR has penalized Jimmy Elledge, crew chief for the #83 team in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, for a rule violation committed last week at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Elledge has been fined $25,000 for...improperly attached weight...The violation was discovered during practice on July 24.

ESPN's live telecast of the Brickyard 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, July 25, earned a final national household coverage rating of 4.2, averaging 5,709,103 viewers, according to the Nielsen Company. The rating was down from the 4.8 for last year's race that also aired on ESPN.

After five successful years together in NASCAR's top touring divisions, JTG Daugherty Racing and Marcos Ambrose will part ways at the end of the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. "JTG Daugherty Racing and our sponsors are obviously huge Marcos Ambrose fans and we are disappointed to see him leave after five great years of building a program together from the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, to the Nationwide Series, and into the Sprint Cup Series," said Tad Geschickter, co-owner of JTG Daugherty Racing along with Brad Daugherty and Jodi Geschickter. "Marcos is a friend and he is a great talent. He will be an asset to his next team. While we hate to see him move on at the end of the season, we will remain focused on winning races with Marcos. We are excited about our company's development. We have NASCAR's greatest and most loyal sponsors, a growing fan base, and a steadily improving race team."...The two-time V8 Supercar champion's first appearance with JTG Daugherty Racing was at Martinsville Speedway in 2006 when he made his NASCAR debut in the Camping World Truck Series. Ambrose naturally progressed the next year to the NASCAR Nationwide Series spending two years in the division before competing full-time in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for the racing organization...(Marcos) "...After five years, I personally felt it was time for a change. I have no firm plans of what will come next for me and my career. I would like to continue in NASCAR and finish off what I started, but I have not discounted returning to Australia. I'm grateful to JTG Daugherty Racing for giving me an opportunity to become a NASCAR driver and I wish them the best in the future." The Launceston, Tasmania Australia native has recorded four top-five and nine top-10 finishes with JTG Daugherty Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and has also delivered two Nationwide Series victories. His career-best Cup finish is a second-place finish at Watkins Glen International last season. Currently Ambrose has two top-10 finishes and is 27th in the driver points standings after 20 starts this season. JTG Daugherty Racing will make an announcement in the near future regarding their driver for the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season....Ambrose did not say where he will drive next season, but he's believed to be close to finalizing a deal with Richard Petty Motorsports. (I heard as Kasey Kahne replacement in the #9! - JD).

Obviously I would l like to provide the car for them next year, who wouldn't" Finch stated, "I also have had no opportunities to sell my team to Mark Martin" said Finch "I haven't talked with Mike Mulhern, and I have no intentions of closing Phoenix Racing" Finch stated "I am definitely looking for sponsorship for my Cup team and Nationwide cars. Times are tough, but we are moving forward and will entertain all sponsorship opportunities".

“Tuesdays with TMAC”! - By Bill W:  Terry McCarl is a historian and a numbers guy. Last weekend, a historical marker fell when he won his 250th career sprint car feature Friday at the ELKO Speedway in New Market, Minnesota. Not satisfied, he followed up that win with the IRA with a victory on Saturday night in Knoxville’s 410 class...

ELKO Speedway puts dirt on once a year, and gets a good response from the IRA sprinters and their fans. “It’s just a great facility,” says TMAC. “I had never seen it before last year, and ‘Wow’ what a neat place. Everything surrounding it is nice, and we were looking forward to going back.”

The Altoona, Iowa driver wasn’t planning on putting in as much interstate time as he did on Friday. “It was a little crazy,” he says. “Jerry Russell, his son Steven and I left in plenty of time. We were 15 miles south of Owatonna, and we were into the worst traffic jam in my life this side of California. It took us two hours to get through fifteen miles of construction. We missed the driver’s meeting and had to qualify last.

Preliminary events went well despite the handicap. “We were pretty strong,” says TMAC. “We qualified well (4th) for going out late, and the heat was fine (3rd). We picked up a good draw for the feature and started on the pole.”

The win did not come easy. “Brooke Tatnell got the jump on us at the start,” says TMAC. “I was a little tight early, and waiting for the car to come to me. Brooke had some problems (like a big flip, wasn't it? - JD) and that gave us the lead. Scott Winters was able to get by us, but my fuel load burned off, and the track slicked to us.”

The Eagle Chassis really started working for TMAC, and he went on to take the point and pull away with win #250. “We were able to get back by Scott and set sail,” he says. “The car felt really good. Some of it is myself getting better, and some of it is the car. Confidence is such a huge thing, so it is good to get these wins.”

Saturday at Knoxville, he continued his hot streak. “We were second quick, and winning the heat race started things out right,” says TMAC. “That put us in the sixth spot starting the feature. We were able to jump up to second on the first lap.”

Mark Dobmeier took the early lead with TMAC in tow. “Mark has one of the best teams in the Midwest and he was out there running strong on the cushion as usual,” he says. “I was trying to find a line that might be working a little better when we got in traffic.”

TMAC was delayed in traffic again, this time on the track. “I was able to reel him in a bit, but a lapped car got a little sideways in front of me off of turn two and that killed my momentum,” he says. “I tried to get by him again and the same thing happened. That set us back a bit, so definitely the yellow helped us.”

On the restart, TMAC used a successful slidejob to take the lead and go on to win #251. “It was a good race, and I had a lot of fans who came down that enjoyed it,” he says. “We want to put on a good race for the fans. Jerry (Russell) and I learned a lot about the car again this week, and that will help us out. We’re making some changes to the car that I never would have done in the past as a result of the tires we’re running. It’s great having Jerry there, and I can’t thank him enough. Eagle is starting to sell more and more cars and I think they’re going to be a real player again.”

TMAC also competed in a pair of 360 cars last week. On Wednesday, he drove from 15th to 7th in Gary Swenson’s #24A in Denison, Iowa, and at Knoxville, he suffered a DNF in Jerry and Jeff Smith’s #86. “I am trying to get back in shape and running for Gary Swenson and the Smith’s was a good way to do that,” he says. “It’s a good thing when you can build new relationships in this sport.”

Plans this week are to run Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Huset’s with the All Star Circuit of Champions. “I really would like to support Mr. (Danny) Schatz at Fargo Thursday and even hit Belleville, but we really don’t have the truck and trailer to get that done,” says TMAC. “We’ve got nine nights on the Ott, and three nights at Huset’s will make it twelve. We’ll overnight it to Don (Ott) on Monday to make sure we have it ready for the Nationals. I appreciate everything he’s done for us, and obviously, his motors have been really strong for us.” ...

Jeffery Swim asks: What do you find yourself doing outside of racing on your free time? Thanks!

TMAC Answers: Everyone thinks this is a rock star life, and once in awhile it is, but most of the time it’s not. I don’t get the opportunity to vacation or boat, but the bright side of my injury this year has been the time with family. I think we’ve used our deck more this year than the three years prior combined. We really don’t do a whole lot outside of it. When I’m not doing it, we’re concentrating on the boys’ racing or promoting the Front Row Challenge and the Ultimate Challenge.

This Day in TMAC History!

On this day in 1996, TMAC pulled a double feature win at Knoxville Raceway taking home both the 360 Nationals and the 410 feature that night. Driving for Brad Gray in the #51 he won the $3500 360 Nationals over Danny Lasoski, Doug Wolfgang, Don Droud Jr., Larry Pinegar II and Rickey Hood. He won the 410 feature ahead of Steve Beitler, Lasoski, Dennis Moore Jr. and Gary Wright...

World of Outlaws:

Steve Kinser has an amazing record over the years when he visits a track for the first time with the World of Outlaws, having scored well over 50 wins in debut events for the series. The 20-time series champion added to that remarkable list on Tuesday night as he was victorious in the World of Outlaws first-ever race at Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, Quebec, Canada before a standing room only crowd on a picture perfect night.

Kinser started on the outside of the front row and battled his teammate Donny Schatz in the early going, taking the top spot from him on the fifth lap as the pair exited turn four, using the low side of the four-tenths-mile to surge ahead. He would quickly pull away in lapped traffic. The native of Bloomington, Indiana would pace the final 31 circuits of the 35-lap contest to score his sixth A-Feature win of the season and the 558th of his amazing career.

“It is special,” said Kinser in Victory Lane of scoring another inaugural event win. “I thought we may have been jinxed earlier when Johnny (Gibson) said earlier how we have won a lot of races in our first time at a track and I know we have, but you sort of hate hearing it before you go out there. To get another first win is great.”

Kinser was out front for three double file restarts and chose the low line each and every time. He led Donny Schatz into turns one and two on the first two and had Paul McMahan lined up on his outside on the final restart with six laps remaining. Kinser used strong restarts each time to stay in front aboard the Bass Pro Shops Maxim.

“The leader gets to set the pace with the line he chooses, so I choked them down a bit and caught the moisture getting off (turn) four,” explained the Hall of Famer. “I didn’t want them to get up to speed and get a run at me coming off four. They were pretty slow starts, but that’s what you have to do sometimes, pick a spot and do what you can.”

Schatz, who led the first four laps of the race on Tuesday night, used a strong restart on the 22nd lap to look high off turns one and two in his bid for the lead. He used the same strategy on the following lap, but could not quite make the pass. The final restart of the night would come with six laps remaining, after Schatz stopped on the track with a mechanical problem while running second.

“I didn’t really know when to move back up and Donny (Schatz) showed himself and I moved back up on top,” Kinser noted. “Then I started running out of fuel on the last five laps and didn’t think I was going to make it to the checker on the last lap. It was spitting and sputtering, but we made and that’s what matters.”

Paul McMahan ended up second on Tuesday night to earn his 10th Top-Five finish in the last 12 races, which is the most of any driver during that span. The veteran started fourth in the Great Clips Maxim and ran in the Top-Five all night, getting around Chad Kemenah late in the going for third, before moving into second when Schatz dropped out.

“We’ve been real good,” said McMahan. “The car was awesome fast all night long. It’s just great to be back in Canada. The fans are great and it’s unbelievable how packed the place is. Hopefully we’ll be back many times down the road.”

Joey Saldana, the current World of Outlaws point leader finished third after lining up 11th in the Budweiser Maxim to earn the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award. The second generation driver holds a 29-point advantage over Kinser as he chases his first title.

“We were struggling with our car all night and weren’t too bad in the feature,” said Saldana. “It’s hard racing with these guys when you start in the 11th spot and it’s tough to make it up. We had a good solid car and just came home third.”

McMahan lined up on the outside of Kinser on the final restart with six laps to go. He dove to the low side of turns one and two to no avail as he kept pace with Kinser on the restart. Coupled with Saldana’s third-place finish it was the fourth time this season that both Kasey Kahne Racing cars have finished on the podium on the same night.

“My motor wasn’t taking off very good so I was trying to get down to the bottom as fast as I could,” shared McMahan. “I got down there and had one shot at Steve (Kinser) and he was better than we were. I was probably a third-place car until Donny (Schatz) broke. We came home second and it was a great night for Kasey Kahne Racing.” ...

The World of Outlaws return to action on Friday, July 30 and Saturday, July 31 at Ohsweken Speedway in Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada for a two-night event.
