Thanks again to all the fans and organizations that have assisted with our Tulsa effort so far.  We hope to represent your support well.  A little lump comes to my throat (not from my sinus issues, but emotional) every time a donation is made.  We really appreciate every contribution to this deal.  Many of those in attendance have offered how glad they are to see KO is running.  I hope my preparation/maintenance schedule/set-up/etc. lives up to the expectations...intend to be back at the track shortly after the doors open...

...our pit happens to be located across from "underdog story of the year" Tony "No Baloney" Roney and family...their 2nd place result Thursday night (info below) is the kind of inspiration our team needs! (...the "No Baloney" nickname was one excited "crew-guy/part & T-shirt salesman" Justin and I came up with for the likeable driver. - JD)

From Lonnie Wheatly: ...Cleared by his doctors at the last minute after an injury sustained in August, J.J. Yeley jumped into the seat of a vacant Keith Kunz Motorsports entry.  After a heat race win, Yeley had a tumultuous qualifier (word is, ONE of my all-time favs caused pile up wrecking MY CAR and ALL TIME FAV KO driver...I still need to see video...more below - JD), raced in through the “B” Main and then finished 20th after his late stoppage.

...With four nights in the books, 256 (No way were we #256!?  LAST car in building...not sure what worked out with TBAs on entry list - not as many "rental rides" this year. - JD) competitors will battle it out in Saturday’s Rockstar Energy Drink slate of championship events that gets under way at 12:00 p.m.

Heat Races (Top 40 in passing points to A Qualifiers; Balance to twin C Mains)

Heat 1: 1. #17T Justin Grant, Ione, CA; 2. #21K Cory Kruseman, Ventura, CA; 3. #21 Daryn Pittman, Owasso, OK; 4. #57B Johnny Heydenreich, Indianapolis, IN; 5. #7A Dakoda Armstrong, New Castle, IN; 6. #56D Kevin Olson, Machesney Park, IL: 7. #86J Josh Most, Red Oak, IA; 8. #10W George White, Fort Worth, TX (Car took off and KO got a real good start when the green was first displayed.  Unfortunately, the race was a complete restart due to a flip!  KO got moved around on the 2nd attempt while going thru turn three.  Fell back from the field.  Ended up working on Josh Most and got the spot!  Very important pass of night.  Way "passing points" worked, did not have to run C-main!  RR was a little bouncy.  Cory Fillip at Advanced Racing Suspension and RFMS's Greg Nelson offered that it would be ok to go from the gas adjustable to more conventional style adjustable shock when the track went real dry...as it has been doing all week! - JD)

            Heat 2: 1. #67 J.J. Yeley, Phoenix, AZ

A Qualifier 3: 1. #17 Chris Windom, Canton, IL; 2. #007 Cole Carter, Brownsburg, IN ... 5. #17W Josh Wise, Riverside, CA; 6. #67 J.J. Yeley, Phoenix, AZ; 7. #9J Jason Meyers, Clovis, CA; 8. #55K Nick Knepper, Belleville, IL; 9. #16B David Budres, Beloit, WI; 10. #56D Kevin Olson, Machesney Park, IL (Had moved up mid-pack after JUST missing early wreck.  However, got caught in a pile-up...word is maybe JJ Yeley was involved in start? ...Shock, axle, and misc. ... Not much time for repair.  I had spare axle set-up to install.  We had issues with one of the RF hiems going into the axle bracket and the LF spindle & hub matching up.  Thanks to Justin Lindenman, Barry Lamb, KO, and others, we got everything ready and hooked up correctly - however after the weekend, I realized that the brake pads should have been changed to match the steel rotor we had to put on.  There was more RH lead in the car than normal, but we decided that was good to try for indoor racing.  ARDC crew member Bill Jackson put the same tires on the rear we had used in the heat before we lowered the car.  Another gentleman who was offering assistance, adjusted the shocks...however different directions than I have ever heard to do? - JD)

B Main 2: 1. #05 Brad Loyet, Sunset Hills, MO; 2. #67 J.J. Yeley, Phoenix, AZ; 3. #44 Don Droud Jr., Lincoln, NE ... 6. #55K Nick Knepper, Belleville, IL; 7. #21 Daryn Pittman, Owasso, OK ... 9. #57B Johnny Heydenreich, Indianapolis, IN; 10. #15M Mat Neely, Robinson, IL ... 12. #86J Josh Most, Red Oak, IA; 13. #56D Kevin Olson, Machesney Park, IL; 14. #7JR J.D. Black, Grain Valley, MO; 15. #9 Joey Saldana, Brownsburg, IN; 16. #2J Jackie Burke, Houston, TX (Car was just too loose.  I failed to convey, so that it was understood, that the car tended to not like too much stagger - for me anyway.  There was only 5 5/8", but maybe too much for no moisture?  We had spent all of our effort rebuilding the front end after the wreck, and were unable to take any time thinking about chassis changes.  I wished I had been able to control more of some of the areas that could have helped.  Justin and I stayed until they kicked us out of the building, again.  We removed all we could from the car and planned to check everything.  We wanted to get the car squared back up too. - JD)

6d Lex Burritt (Redding, CT) – 56d Kevin Olson (Machesney Park, IL)
H Main 2 Transfer 1 – H Main 2 Transfer 2
H Main 2 Transfer 3 – H Main 2 Transfer 4

G Main 2: 1. #35M Matt Sherrell, Owasso, OK...6. #12 Nathan High, Goodyear, AZ; 7. #7M Kevin Ramey, Fort Worth, TX; 8. #73I Austen Wheatley, Lake Stevens, WA; 9. #97 Jon Stanbrough, Avon, IN (Had trouble and was in the back with lap or two to go - JD) ... 11. #56D Kevin Olson, Machesney Park, IL...15 cars  (I didn't do enough to chassis.  We had come to a consensus on a lot of stagger - mostly due to new LR being real small - and keeping the RR out.  I should have took a turn out of the RR bar and raised the front end a little more.  Could have almost put softer springs in front.  It looked like KO's preferred low lane had some moisture.  He said the car was just not hooking up and too loose again.  He did not catch any breaks out on the track and there was no yellows.  It was a good learning experience.  None of us were happy with the run.  I was JUST as upset with failing with the chassis set-up as I am due to sub-par driving performance.  We did get lot of good help, I just should have done more though.  Very thankful for honor to be in pits and part of "KO experience".  Made it there and back with the only issues being gas related... - JD).

After about an hour detour through Oklahoma "no-where" in the middle of the night, searching for ever precious petroleum for the starving big block powered tow rig (funny order of events to be posted), the #56 Shakers Sports Bar (more sponsors and contributors to list later) JAMR Gaerte Stealth made it's safe return home 12 hours after departing Tulsa (taking in the KO experience, selling parts and T-shirts until the end). Although I should have set the chassis up to achieve better results, nothing fell off the car or leaked and the JAMR Gaerte ran well. It was neat to meet a lot of very nice people (including the Midget Madness Top Row Rowdies). I have many to thank, updates to put on my website (look for the"JD" comments), and intend to share some of the good stories (not to mention looking at the car and figuring out 2010 plans)! All-in-all, in the end, I think we avoided a $10 toll; with our above mentioned off-HWY excursion!...

To each and every individual, along with the various business groups that supported our 2010 Chili Bowl, please consider this a personal thank-you for your donation/sponsorship/assistance. While I do believe that I recall each and every person who stopped by with support; the front-end repair procedure got hectic Friday and I would feel horrible accidentally omitting even one name from any posting.

Please be assured that all financial compensation provided WILL go directly toward the expenses of getting the #56D down there and back. Crewmember Justin and I were two of the last to leave the building every night (more of a "business trip" for me...another year without a beer). However, I do apologize for not making the necessary chassis changes to allow for a better run. The track was not where we thought it would be in that G-main Saturday. I should have known to overrule some of the items we had come to a consensus on and took my own initive to make aggressive adjustments; allowing KO to get all he could out of the old car.

Hopefully, he will have a chance to redeem himself with a better ride in 2011. Meanwhile I will take what we learned with our team, and plan to enter a #56D in 2011. Having moved up in the heat Friday, we were poised for a very respectable result in the 3rd Qualifying race (as Kevin had avoided an early pile-up), before getting caught up in a turn four stack of cars (please let me know if anyone has video)!

Thank-you so much. Everyone who responded, in various methods, played a major part in this experience! See you at the races.
