By Jordan Kuehne: Scott Dixon should race more often, as the father of three regulars at the Rockford Speedway outlasted a massive field of 130 cars to collect the final event of the year at the historic facility, the Goblin 250 enduro. Dixon hadn't raced in six years before entering the event, seeking permission from his wife to get back on the track and in his return, the Wisconsin driver made it seem like he had never taken time off. Dixon assumed control with 25 laps remaining...After considerable attrition over the first portion of the race, around 50 cars returned to the high-banked quarter mile for the final 125 laps which was ran on the Monza course with the backstretch featuring a chicane...("only" 2) red flags...

Cavalier almost tried killing me again (pretty much gave up on VW Fri night/Sat AM...I work too slow...couldn't get any good help. Got too aggressive (think you have to be a little to run in top 10...but maybe ok to be real conservative if you want to finish) and LR cut down about lap 60 or so. Rode around for at least 20 laps (handled ok...got some stagger that way!). Started overheating and smoking. Decided to do a stop (thanks to pit crew of Tom Schnedier and "step-kid" Richie). Was "only" 3 laps down at that point (like old school racing, pretty spread out in this deal), on lap 78. #56 was on the board in 4th, but not sure if other car. Got engine cooled down some, but still smoking. Came back out on lap 91. Another deal coming out of 2 around lap 100. Put myself in middle of 3 wide sandwich and almost went down pits backward. Apparently exhaust messed up again. Thought smoke was from overflow. RF going down too. Just tried to make it to 1/2 break. Got pretty bad about lap 106 recall. Started the count down (to 125)...like an idiot again (apparently didn't learn first time). Finally RF blew out, but actually saved my life. Sounded like front end coming apart so pulled off on lap 114. Climbed out while guys worked on rear bumper and tires. Thought maybe ok, but basically passed out. Fell on my face on cement pad AFTER taking helmet off (too bad). Was "there" whole time, but went down hard. Busted left eye area little (ready for Halloween!) and wonder about concussion. Was talking some good stuff! Not getting any stitches...think I'll be ok. Gotta pull out rear-end, weld bumper on, and decided going to take to muffler shop and pay for good exhaust that comes out in front of tires so no chance of smashing in! Should have gave up on top run, pulled in and lost 10-20 laps or whatever and straighten all out. Could have finished at least. They wouldn't let me or anyone else take it back out! Anyway, guess that's what I get when feel invincible with that car! Not as conservative as normal, but made past early stuff. Wasn't trying to just finish, all but convinced we had a top 5 run going. Car is really a good Enduro car (besides exhaust!). Had it turning good (56 psi in RR!), even underneath lot of cars. At least didn't' pay to get in! Lots of free food too! Had completed 98 laps.
